Jeff Bezos Got Married This Weekend
You need to know the philosophical difference between affluent and elite
Hello Lovelies,
I hope everyone is well. June is almost up, and we are once again in the dog days of summer. While it’s been business as usual for me, I’ve been really enjoying life, and ‘getting outside’ as some would say. After all, I must have an excuse to use my Rent the Runway subscription. In addition to being fashionably social, I’ve been continuing to study wealth and affluence in pop culture and the world. Of course, applying a philosophical approach to better understand it. If you have been sitting under a rock, the biggest wedding since the last royal wedding took place over the weekend in Venice, Italy. Jeff Bezos married his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, in a multi-day, star-studded celebration. It’s been all over social media in the days leading up to the event. Mostly for controversy, with various protests taking place. While some are indifferent, I couldn’t help but notice the full scope of this highly discussed wedding and why it’s so significant.
As a wedding planner myself, the first thing I want to know is who planned this immaculate $50 million wedding! After doing some digging, I found out that it’s not even the most elite of wedding planners in the world. Italian Aristocrats planned their event, and there isn’t much information you can find out about these aristocrats, their company, or work they’ve done in the past. They make it very known that they service elite clients, and royals, and because their clientele and service is very exclusive, that means the public isn’t privy to anything regarding the matter. It’s ultra exclusive. Which made me think that there are levels to affluence. The elite is the highest affluent level, and they are a community to themselves and for themselves. While it’s not necessarily a bad thing, I definitely find it interesting. Jeff Bezos is not a royal, but he is very elite, and this historical wedding sets the tone for greater conversations regarding relationships, wealth, celebrity, and network in the near future.
After Three Decades, an Era Ends at Vogue
In a move that marks the end of a defining chapter in fashion history, Anna Wintour has officially stepped down from her role at Vogue after 37 years. Known for her sharp eye, icy bob, and cultural dominance that transcended glossy pages, Wintour will continue to shape the brand’s global vision in her roles as Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue. Her departure from the editor’s desk marks a symbolic shift, closing a legendary chapter while reinforcing her enduring influence on fashion and media. In an industry built on change, Wintour remains a constant: a tastemaker whose presence continues to define what’s next.
Balenciaga Celebrates a Decade of Demna with Paris Retrospective Activation
In an exhibition that blurs the line between fashion and cultural commentary, Balenciaga honors Creative Director Demna’s decade-long tenure with a striking retrospective in Paris. Held at the brand’s historic headquarters, the showcase features 101 pieces from 30 collections, offering a lens into Demna’s radical reinterpretation of luxury—from deconstructed tailoring and upcycled couture to viral silhouettes that redefined the runway. With immersive installations and AI-narrated insights, the exhibit underscores not just a designer’s evolution, but a bold reimagining of what fashion can represent in the modern age.
